TERMINATING MONTH-TO-MONTH TENANCIES IN CA:

Terminating month-to-month tenancies in California is relatively easy. The standard rule is: If you live there less than a year, you are entitled to a 30 day written notice to vacate. If you have lived there for a year or more, 60 day written notice is required. There is also special advisory language required by law. See Civil Code 1946.1.  In rent control jurisdictions, additional time and requirements may apply, including a statement of “just cause”.   If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact our office to make sure it is iron clad!
